While this book was the 10th in the series, it works well as a standalone. I love books set during WWII and that was a huge positive for me. The fact that it was based solely on the west coast of the United States while focusing on social unrest, the Nazi invasion, and race discrimination was amazing. Maggie Hope is a well-developed character and one you find yourself cheering on as she maintains her composure during difficult circumstances.
