Every Note Played (by Lisa Genova) . . . a painful disease and a wide range of emotions

As a pianist, this book was even more difficult to read and experience the way ALS destroyed Richard’s body and life. The progress of the disease was a painful story to endure.

Lisa Genova does a great job, once again, of drawing you into the lives of the characters and helping you to feel their pain, anger, anxiety…deep emotions that will break your heart. The author will introduce you to Richard, his ex-wife, and his daughter. You will experience the emotions Richard’s family feels…the anger, the embarrassment, the fear, the discomfort. And you think about how you would feel if you were in the same situation. How compassionate would you be? How willing to care for your ex-husband?

Lisa Genova does an amazing job of writing about normal people who suffer through difficult conditions. She is a wonderful author who shares the stories with knowledge and a deep sense of compassion.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
